In the smash-hit tour Hans Zimmer Live, Academy Award® and Grammy winning Hans Zimmer, his band and an ensemble orchestra perform a selection of the composer’s scores from some of cinema’s biggest films including Gladiator, Pirates of Caribbean, The Dark Knight, Interstellar, The Lion King, The Las Samurai and Dune.

However, finding subwoofers that can match the impressive low end created by Zimmer’s own keyboards, the tour needed subwoofers built to reach incredibly low frequencies. Colin Pink, front of house engineer for Hans Zimmer live, and his team sought a subwoofer that could match this requirement. The team chose Danley’s DTS10 subwoofer to meet this requirement.

Feeling the Music

Some music is meant to be more than just heard – but felt. Hans Zimmer purposefully removes the capacitors from his keyboards to reach low frequencies as low as 10 Hz. While humans can sometimes hear tones below 20 Hz, at 10 Hz people still feel the sound and low-pressure levels on their eardrums.
