To reinforce the corps’ sound across the field, Blue Devils B deployed three Danley OS80 loudspeakers and a single TH121 subwoofer, delivering clear, full-range coverage to the audience. Danley’s Wireless Link System tied the setup together, sending audio from soloists and the front ensemble (the “pit”) to the crowd without the cable runs a marching field would otherwise demand.
That wireless capability addressed one of the toughest challenges in field audio: getting performers’ sound to the audience cleanly when the source is moving and running cable across a football field isn’t practical. WLS provides low-latency, high-fidelity point-to-point transmission, allowing the corps to capture featured solos and front ensemble detail and reproduce them for the crowd with clarity and impact.
“The win was very emotional for all of us including staff, members, support, and everyone involved,” said Alan Han, audio manager for Blue Devils B. “One of the compliments we received was how clear our audio was from the field. The judges love the clarity. They said we had some of the clearest sounds from the field which a really big compliment for us. Danley helped us achieve that clarity.”
The results was on-field audio that supported the corps’ storytelling from the controlled precision of the show’s opening to its championship-winning finish, as Blue Devils B carried Mise En Place to the sport’s biggest stage, Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, for the DCI World Championships.
