Danley Sound Labs announces the release of its latest iteration of the OS-PWR, a weatherized outdoor power amplifier engineered for the elements.

“The OS-PWR amplifier is a solution primarily driven to development for the sports and outdoor market,” said Bill Johnson, head of engineering at Danley Sound Labs. “The amplifier is housed in a way to keep the amplifier cool in the summer and to protect it from the elements.”

The OS-PWR amplifier is housed in a UV-resistant, fiberglass-reinforced polyester enclosure with a fully gasketed door, drip rail, and NEMA 3R/IP24 rating. The amplifier can be pole- or wall-mounted and offers cleanable rain-shrouded vents. In addition the enclosure utilizes quarter-turn locking latches and cable gland nuts for sealed, secure wiring.

“Simply put, we wanted to develop an outdoor amplifier system where we could remove mount the amplifier to the poles,” said Mike Hedden, chief steward in charge at Danley Sound Labs. “Plus, having the amplifier right near the loudspeaker and you introduce our new Wireless Link System technology – that really is a game changer.”

“Getting power to the pole position where the loudspeaker typically is isn’t usually the challenge as power is typically already there for the lighting,” said Johnson. “The challenge is getting the audio signal to the remoted amplifier. With the Wireless Link System, we can just broadcast the signal across the field to the amplifier. It’s very clean and simplifies the installation for all parties involved.”

The OS-PWR is now available in two varieties: the OS-PWR-2 which offers a 2 by 1,500 watt amplifier at 8 ohms or the OS-PWR-3 with up to 3,000 watts on Channel C. Both are driven by 96 kHz, 64-bit digital signal processing with 2,000-tap FIR filtering and real-time monitoring. The amplifiers can be programmed directly and presets can be recalled in seconds. With USB and ethernet daisy-chaining, control and monitoring can all be done via the amplifier’s software. Both varieties can also be outfitted with the OS-RSX receiver for the Wireless Link System allowing for crystal clear audio to be transmitted from a transmitter to the amplifier.
